by Jo Hall, Monitoring Consultant
Discussions on Brexit will dominate Parliament when MPs and Peers return from the summer recess in September with the House of Lords due to debate two key pieces of legislation; the Trade Bill and the Taxation (Cross-border Trade) Bill.
September is to be a busy month for Financial Services, with Parliament set to resume on the 4th, the Civil Liability Bill returns to the Commons for its Second Reading, whilst the Taxation (Cross-border Trade) Bill is set to have its remaining stages in the House of Lords.
Meanwhile, on the 11th, the Chancellor and his ministers are due to take questions from MPs.
Several major events are expected to take place this month, with the FCA hosting its Annual Public Meeting on the 11th, UK Finance holding its MiFID II Product Governance and Digital Innovation summit on the 18th, and the Labour Conference to begin on the 23rd.
