What's on the agenda this month
by Jo Hall, Financial Services Policy Executive
With the cancellation of the February recess, Parliament is set to focus much of its attention on breaking the Brexit deadlock this month, however, Financial Services is not taking a back seat.
In the Commons, Westminster Hall debates on the pensions dashboard and the UK as a financial services hub have been tabled for the 6th. Meanwhile, the Financial Services (Implementation of Legislation) Bill is to continue its passage through Parliament with its Third Reading to take place in the Lords on the 6th.
The Committees are set to be very busy in February, with the Treasury Committee continuing its inquiries into Consumers' access to financial services, Business Rates, and tax enquiries. Meanwhile, the BEIS Committee is to hold further sessions as part of its inquiry into the Future of Audit.
Several major events are to take place in February, with ABI Annual Conference scheduled for the 26th and the Bank of England to host its One Bank Research Seminars on the 13th and 14th.
